WHO IS MAX G?
Max Gutierrez—aka Max G—is a commercial director known for capturing those sly wink-and-smile moments that make viewers feel like they’re in on the joke. Working with celebrities and pro athletes is his sweet spot: high standards, short attention spans, and a hard out before lunch? Perfect. He brings humor, heart, and seasoned chaos-wrangling to his work, shaped by years of parenting, coaching, and pretending he’s still cool enough to hang with the teens.
Turns out some people do enjoy a good dad joke, including the folks at Adweek, Ad Age, The Drum, The One Club, the ADDYs, and Shots. His recent work for DraftKings and HBO earned both a Clio and an Emmy, and he’s helmed six Super Bowl campaigns—though he only really watches when the Niners are playing.
A San Francisco native, Max began his career at Goodby, Silverstein & Partners after graduating from UC Berkeley. He later earned his MFA from USC and received honors from the Young Director Award at Cannes. He now lives in Los Angeles with his wife, three kids, and a garage full of half-built LEGO sets and retired cleats. He’s still learning to surf—a style best described as a bear balancing on a log.
